Cleaning

Some homes we inspect do not need to be media blasted.   A good cleaning with water, cleaner and scrub brushes will be sufficient if:

  1. If the existing stain on the home is still effective.
  2. The cleaning process can remove all dirt, mildew and debris prior to applying a fresh coat of stain.

Although cleaning a log home may seem like a simple procedure, it is probably where we see many inexperienced contractors make critical mistakes.  These mistakes often result in a poor final product.  Our method of cleaning is a multi-step process that leaves the wood surface clean, thoroughly rinsed and dry prior to application of new stain.   We use EPA approved cleaners and products.  The cleaning process is perhaps the single most important step in the restoration of a log home.
